Do I need a visa to visit Dahab?

Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival in Egypt. However, visa requirements vary depending on your nationality.

For most European nationalities, there are two options:

  • Tourist visa: Costs approximately US$30 and is valid for one month. This allows you to travel outside the South Sinai Peninsula, including to Cairo.
  • Sinai-only stamp: Free of charge and valid for 14 days. You can use this option if you plan to stay within the South Sinai Peninsula. It also allows you to join our trips to Ras Mohamed.

Different rules may apply to some nationalities, including certain Eastern European countries, Russia and South Africa. Please check the requirements for your nationality before travelling.

Important: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date.

I have never taken a freediving course, but I have some experience. Can I start with the second level?

If you have never completed a freediving course, we highly recommend starting with the first level. It covers essential skills that are important for your progression and are not necessarily taught again in later courses, including:

  • Proper breathing techniques and breathing exercises.
  • Using breathing for relaxation and preparing a safe breathe-up.
  • Safety procedures and rescue techniques in the event of a blackout.
  • Proper finning technique and streamlining.

If you feel that your experience is already beyond this level and would like to skip the first level (SSI Freediver or equivalent), we can arrange the SSI Experience Diver Test (Evaluation Day).

This is a thorough assessment of your current skills and knowledge to determine whether you are ready to continue to the second level. Upon successful completion, you will receive the SSI Freediver certification, allowing you to progress to the next level or join our training sessions.

Price: €150, including equipment and certification.

What is the difference between SSI and AIDA?

Most of our courses are taught through SSI. In terms of practical skills and course content, there is little difference between SSI and AIDA. The main differences are in the theory materials and certification.

SSI has an international network of training centres, allowing you to continue your freediving education in many destinations worldwide.

SSI and AIDA recognise equivalent levels, so you generally do not need to repeat an equivalent course if you decide to continue with another organisation.

I have completed a course with AIDA, Apnea Academy, FII or PADI. Do I have to start from the beginning to switch to SSI?

No, you do not need to start from the beginning. For most recognised training agencies, we offer direct crossover, allowing you to continue at the appropriate next level.

For smaller or unrecognised training agencies, we may require at least one Evaluation Day to assess your current level before proceeding.

Do I need a medical examination before starting freediving?

Before starting a course, you must complete and sign a medical statement.

If you answer “yes” to any relevant medical questions, you will need to provide a medical release signed and stamped by your doctor, confirming that you are medically cleared to participate in freediving for the condition concerned.

If you are already in Dahab, we can refer you to a local diving physician who will assess your condition and determine whether you can safely participate in freediving.

If you have no relevant medical conditions, a separate medical examination is generally not required.

Our opening hours vary depending on the season:

  • Winter: 08:00–17:30
  • Summer: 08:30–18:00

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, we require a 30% deposit for all bookings to confirm your reservation.

Our company is registered in Egypt, so we do not have a European bank account. Deposits can be paid via Wise or Revolut.

Please bring enough cash to cover the remaining balance of your booking. We accept euros, British pounds and US dollars. We do not accept credit cards.

What is your cancellation policy?

Each cancellation is considered individually, but the following general guidelines apply.

Cancellation periods

  • Early cancellation: 14 days or more before the booking or course start date.
  • Late cancellation: 14 to 4 days before.
  • Last-minute cancellation: 3 to 1 day before.
  • No-show: Failure to arrive without cancelling.

Apartments

  • Early cancellation: Full refund (100%).
  • Late cancellation: 30% cancellation fee.
  • Last-minute cancellation or no-show: No refund.

Packages (Combo packages, Training Weeks and special events)

  • Early cancellation: Full refund, minus the cost of student kits if already ordered.
  • Late cancellation: 20% cancellation fee based on the full booking price, plus the cost of student kits if already ordered.
  • Last-minute cancellation or no-show: No refund.

Courses

This policy applies to all courses booked at regular prices outside scheduled packages, excluding instructor courses.

  • Early cancellation: Full refund, minus the cost of student kits if already ordered.
  • Late cancellation: Full refund, minus the cost of student kits if already ordered.
  • Last-minute cancellation or no-show: The deposit is non-refundable, plus the cost of student kits if already ordered.

Instructor courses

Instructor-course deposits may be non-refundable, depending on the circumstances. The instructor trainer may already have incurred travel expenses to attend the Instructor Training Course (ITC). In such cases, the deposit may be used to cover those expenses.
