These classes are designed for 3 different levels of freedivers: Beginners, Advanced and Deep.BEGINNER: Did you do a beginner course before and struggled with equalisation, especially when in head-down position?
This is something very common but the majority of times is due to wrong technique and lack of awareness of the structures involved in equalisation. Unfortunately during a short course there is not much time to dedicate to a thorough equalisation lesson.
Often it happens that people who experienced this problem will drop out of freediving and think it is not for them.
It doesn’t have to be this way! Some people just need a bit more time to work on it, and the good news is that you dont need to be in the water to do this, in fact the most efficient way to learn and practice equalisation is on land.
During this class we go deep into the anatomy of equalisation, which structures are involved and which exercises you need to practice so to learn the Frenzel maneuver, which is the most efficient way to equalise for freediving. Estimated number of sessions needed: 1.
ADVANCED: Are you freediving comfortably to 20-30 meters but past this depth you feel as if “you have no air” to equalise? This is due to poor technique, as a basic Frenzel Maneuver is not very effective past 30 meters and takes a lot of effort to perform. During this class you will learn how to perform a more advanced version of Frenzel through the practice of some dry exercises that will allow you to go deeper with less effort. Estimated number of sessions needed: 2-4 (depending on starting level and which variation of Frenzel we choose to work on.
DEEP: Are you a comfortable 35-40 meters freediver but equalisation is your limit? Do you feel you cannot equalise past residual volume and/or you have injured your lungs doing so due to an aggressive equalisation manouver? Or you have done a mouthfill course already, but you are struggling to make it work efficiently? You will learning how to charge effectively and how to control separately the structures involved in Mouthfill technique before finally put it all together. Estimated number of sessions needed: 2-3 If already familiar with Mouthfill and only need improving it; 3-6 If starting from zero.
These classes are highly customized for your own specific needs: we will work on your specific level.
Our classes are online and we are flexible with days of week and times! During the class we are “diagnosing” your problem and the mistakes you make, and we will correct them with a series of specifically designed exercises that you can perform dry at your own pace. The goal is to give you the awareness of your equalisation muscles and through the exercises you will learn the correct movements to perform. Through daily repetition you will create a “muscle memory” and rewire the brain to make these actions automatic so that once you get back to the open water you will be able to immediately improve your equalisation technique. We highly recommend that you book this class a few weeks before your next freediving trip, as the longer you have to practice the higher the chances that you will be able to perform a flawless equalisation during your next in-water session.
All our classes are taught by Linda Paganelli, co-owner of Freedive Dahab and competitive freediver since 2005. Linda is a vice world champion, and had many depth records. After 25 years in the sport she is still training and competing at elite level.
